MARQUETTE -- Hundreds of people showed their support for fallen troops on this Memorial Day with a walk through Marquette on Monday morning.

This was the second annual event sponsored by the Warrior Relief Fund.  Monday's walk began in Mattson Lower Harbor Park and ended on Fair Street behind the Superior Dome.

Marquette Mayor John Kivela lead the walk, followed by cadets of the Northern Michigan University Police Academy.  The purpose behind the walk was to focus people's attention on the true meaning behind the Memorial Day holiday...honoring those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

"Today is a really good day to sit back and consider what we have," said Liz Mathie.  "We get to do whatever we want as Americans, have every opportunity in the world and that's because a bunch of people laid their lives on the line and today is the day to think about it."

The group also sold t-shirts to help raise money for the organization, which helps injured soldiers and families of fallen service members throughout Marquette County.
