Car hits power pole, causes outage

Residents in the north part of Escanaba experienced a power outage for more than five hours

ESCANABA -- Residents in the north part of Escanaba experienced a power outage for more than five hours in the early hours of Saturday.

Escanaba Public Safety was dispatched to the 1700 block of Sheridan Road shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday for a vehicle that struck a power pole. The vehicle driven by Nick Leonard, 21, of Escanaba went off the roadway striking the power pole, knocking it over and disrupting power service to the North part of Escanaba.

Leonard was not injured in the accident and was cited for careless driving.
