Postal employees worry whether these letters could indicate future layoffs

KINGSFORD -- Employees at the Kingsford Processing Center and Iron Mountain Post Office received 60-day employee notification letters.

The letter which was distributed to about 80 employees advises them of a possible involuntary reassignment. Postal employees worry whether these letters could indicate future layoffs. Just last week the postal service declared it's moving forward with a multi-billion dollar cost cutting plan. The postal service plans to trim and consolidate services to avoid closures.

By late 2014, the post office will have 28,000 fewer employees with an estimated annual savings of $2.1 billion.
