NEGAUNEE -- The nutrition packages that were put together by volunteers at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Negaunee for "Kids Against Hunger" were shipped out Tuesday evening. Volunteers joined forces to help feed hungry people around the world. The pallet contains nearly 8,000 packages with each package supplying six meals.
The project shows kids they can help enrich the lives of others.
"The wonderful thing that I get so excited about is the opportunity to connect other people with that mission, our kids, to be able to empower them to see that they can make a difference, too," said Pastor Steve Solberg of the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Packets contain rice, soy and dried vegetables. The boxes will be sent to people in need of food in places like Haiti.
