UPPER PENINSULA -- High winds and lightning caused power outages across the U.P. Sunday, affecting thousands of customers.

The photo shows a downed power line on Varnum Street in Munising where nearly 1,200 customers were affected. More than 200 also lost power in Ishpeming. Those numbers have declined as UPPCO crews have been working to fix downed power lines and outages across the area. To report an outage or check the status of repair, click here.
