ISHPEMING TOWNSHIP -- Students at Aspen Ridge Elementary got a special visit from a popular author.  Marissa Moss, author of the Amelia's Notebook series, stopped by to talk to students in the Young Author Program.

She spoke to the students about the challenges of becoming a writer.  She gave the kids an inside look at her writing process and even wrote and illustrated a short story with the kids.

"I think it means a lot to them. It's really neat for them to be able to see a real author and illustrator in person, in front of them, for the books they've been reading all year; to actually see the person who wrote them, to have that inspiration for them as readers and writers," said Aspen Ridge second grade teacher, Andrea Leinpaste.

Aspen Ridge was selected as the only school that Moss will visit during her time here.  Moss will be in the Upper Peninsula for the remainder of the week and will be speaking at NMU where young authors from across the area can come and interact with her.
