HOUGHTON -- A win of 41 for President Barack Obama at the Democratic Caucus in Houghton.
Registration started early in the morning. Many local residents in Houghton gathered to vote for the presidential democratic candidate.
It's the first time that Gustavo Bourdieu voted since he became a citizen.
"I'm very happy now, it's the first experience. I'm 67. Imagine the first experience as democratic, it's incredible," said Bourdieu.
People who weren't registered voters or affiliated with the democratic party could still participate as long as they registered for the party.
Site Manager Rick Kasprzak was confident of the results.
"I'm pretty sure President Obama will win our vote here today. We might have a few uncommitted, but I'm pretty sure it's going to be the vast majority votes will be for President Obama," said Kasprzak.
Democrat Scott Dianda from Houghton came out to show his support. He is also announcing his new campaign to run for State Representative.
"We're not being represented currently. We've got to get people in Lansing that are going to represent our district and answer for what needs to be done," said Dianda.
The votes were tallied by a show of hands. First to the uncommitted and then to those siding with President Barack Obama.
