CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP -- Wednesday, millions of kids worldwide and right here in the U.P. took part in Project ACES, or All Children Exercising Simultaneously.  Over 300 students at Cherry Creek Elementary School in Chocolay Township took part in celebrating the day with various activities in the school's gym.

From balancing to jumping activities, students explored new forms of exercise.  The idea behind the project is to keep kids active and fight off childhood obesity, which can lead to heart disease.

"I could feel their enthusiasm as they came through the door there.  When they see the gym set up differently, when it's new to them or even in a new atmosphere, they get more involved and more engaged, and I think that that's what is key is just keeping kids active and keeping them engaged in the activities," said Physical Trainer, Lanae Joubert.

Project ACES was created back in 1989 by Len Sauders, a physical education teacher from New Jersey.
