MARQUETTE -- A Marquette woman who pled guilty to stealing over $20,000 from her grandmother's bank account will not go to jail.

Alice Marie Kurian, 52, faced a felony larceny charged after an investigation found she had been making withdrawals totaling $22,000 from her 95-year-old grandmother.  Before sentencing on Friday morning Kurian expressed remorse for her actions.

"My grandmother was more like a mother to me than a grandma to me, and I hurt her deeply and that's the biggest regret that I have," said Kurian.

The Marquette Circuit Judge ordered Kurian to continue paying her restitution of $13,336 and to serve one year on probation.
