MARQUETTE -- The man charged with soliciting the kidnapping and murder of a Michigan State Representative has been sentenced to a minimum of five and a maximum of ten years in the Michigan Department of Corrections.

Larry Taylor, 43, was lodged in Baraga Maximum Correctional Facility in September 2011, when investigators intercepted a letter soliciting the kidnapping and killing of Democratic State Representative Barb Byrum.

Bryum appeared in Marquette County Circuit Court on Friday to issue a victim impact statement and asked that Taylor be sentenced to the maximum amount.  Taylor is a habitual offender and will serve the five to ten years consecutive to his current sentence.

Judge Thomas Solka predicts the earliest Taylor will be eligible for release is 2042.
