DELTA COUNTY -- The third day of the child abuse trial of Allen Joseph Brunette started on Wednesday in Delta County.

Brunette, 23, is facing first degree child abuse charges of a four-year-old child.

The prosecution called nine witnesses to the stand, including Brunette's father, mother, and sister.

The prosecutor asked Brunette's mother if her son had anger control problems.  She said that he did, to a point.

When Brunette's father testified, he stated that his son pushed his mother once, and stated that when Brunette gets mad, he likes to throw things.

The defense attorney asked Brunette's sister if she would trust him to take care of her two-year-old child, and she said that she would.

One of Brunette's ex-girlfriends was also called to the witness stand on Wednesday.  She was a junior high school girlfriend and said that while driving a car with Brunette, he punched her on the right side of her face.  She claimed that her teeth felt crooked and were bleeding, and she had to have them wired.  She said that Brunette never gave any explanation for why he did it.

According to testimony, Brunette told his mother in a phone call from jail that he loves the child and didn't mean to hurt him like that.

TV6's Yona Gavino will have more reports of what went on in court on Wednesday during the TV6 Late News at 11 p.m.

Wednesday's court session ended with Jaclyn Roberts, the victim's mother, taking the stand.

The trial continues Thursday in Delta County Circuit Court.

Roberts will continue her testimony, then the prosecution will rest their case.
