Munising bomb threat, suspect identified

MUNISING -- The Munising City Police Department has identified a 14-year-old girl responsible for a bomb threat on Monday morning.

The suspect was identified and confessed to writing the threat on a wall in one of Munising High School's bathrooms.  The threat was discovered around 10:45 on Monday morning.

The Munising Police Department, Alger County Sheriff's Department, Michigan State Police and Munising Fire Department responded to the school after the threat was discovered.  They searched the school, but nothing suspicious was found, and at 12:55 p.m. the school resumed normal operation.

A false report or threat of a bomb or harmful device is a felony crime, which carries a maximum penalty of 4 years and/or a $2,000 fine.
