MARQUETTE -- Are you looking to serve in public office in the City of Marquette?  If you're interested in running, your name will need to appear on the 2012 August ballot.

Seats are open on the Marquette City Commission and the Board of Light and Power.

Two seats are open on the City Commission and two on the Board of Light and Power.

To qualify, you must be a registered voter and fill out an application.  Along with the application, you're required to fill out a nominating petition with at least 25 registered voters.

"We always encourage them to come in early, get the packets, circulate their nominating petition, file everything with us, and we'll get them squared away and on the ballot," said Marquette City Clerk, Dave Bleau.

All of your paperwork needs to be turned into the city clerk's office by May 8.
