ESCANABA -- The big move for the Upper Central Michigan Railroad Club to a new location at the Escanaba U.P. State Fairgrounds is slated to happen in just a year. On Saturday during an open house at its current location on Ludington Street, the club showed off their layout that's taken 20 years to build.
Tours served as a fundraiser to make their dream of a new building at the U.P. State Fairgrounds a reality. The model railroads are a passion for members young and old.
"When I first watched the Thomas the Train video when I was a kid, I just liked trains after that first video," said Junior Club Member, Alex Williams on his interest in trains.
A fan favorite of the current setup is the "ride a train" station. Through a miniature camera, visitors could view the ride through the train engineer's perspective.
