NEGAUNEE -- The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter has a new manager. Lareina Van Strien has taken over as the manager for Dayna Kennedy who relocated to her home in Wisconsin. Van Strien has worked for UPAWS for more than 4 years in a variety of roles. She views her new position as the natural next step.
"It's really just another role to play in caring for the animals and as a manager I'm here to direct the staff and be their for the community if they have questions or if there's things that they want to change from what we're doing here. To be in the leadership role is very exciting for me just to offer a little bit more," said Lareina Van Strien Manager at UPAWS.
Van Strien trained for several weeks for this new role and Friday was her first official day. UPAWS also has its annual fundraising event this Saturday at Upfront and Company, for more information about the event or UPAWS click here.
