MARQUETTE -- This Friday is of course Good Friday and that will lead us into the Easter holiday weekend. But what exactly is Good Friday?

Christians celebrate Good Friday as the day that Jesus was tried, and crucified in Calvary. The Messiah Lutheran Church in Marquette uses a unique approach to the service by having leaders from different faiths each speak on an aspect of the story of Good Friday.

"We turn the story around and around like a diamond, to see the different ways you can look at it, the different lessons that can be learned from it, the different words of comfort and challenge we find in it," said Senior Pastor David Van Kley.

Methodist, Baptist, Episcopal and Lutheran leaders all spoke at Friday's mass, each one covering a different segment of the book of Mark. Messiah Lutheran will have three services on Easter Sunday.
