IRON MOUNTAIN -- Teachers and community members recently got together in Iron Mountain at the high school to begin training for a campaign against the sudden spike in using "spice."
The reality tour is a volunteer-driven program that's presented to parents and children about substance abuse and the path to prevention. Children and parents are invited to follow a fictitious teen addicted to drugs and the downward spiral that follows.
"Our goal from the beginning has been education. This is a big undertaking and its taken a lot of people to get us this far, but I think we're all in the same mindset that if it makes a difference in one person's life, it's all been worth it," said Iron Mountain High School Principal, Maryann Boddy.
All of the volunteers are motivated in hopes that the reality tour will retaliate against the rising drug use among teens.
