The Negaunee boys team won the third annual charity volleyball tournament in Ishpeming Wednesday. The event is put on by the Health Occupations Student Association and raises money for the Upper Peninsula Diabetes Outreach Network (UPDON). The boys from Ishpeming, Negaunee and Westwood all played hard and had fun raising money for a worthy cause.

"This really raises awareness for the young people; they know it's a fundraiser for UPDON, but what is it really about? It's about learning how to take care of yourself and watching out for your future," said Kathy Roberts, HOSA advisor.

UPDON works to improve the awareness and management of diabetes in upper Michigan. The group recently lost some of its state funding, and HOSA stepped in to help raise money. The charity event raised around $250 for UPDON.
