MARQUETTE -- Major construction will have motorists experiencing delays when traveling on US-41 to and from Harvey. The project is set to begin on April 23 and will last until October. The project will entail reconstruction of the highway near the Carp River bridge and continuing to the Michigan welcome center. From the welcome center to the US-41 and M-28 intersection, the plan is to resurface the road.

"This is an extensive project. Motorists are going to have to expect that there will be some delays. We're always going to keep a lane of traffic open in each direction, but when you transition a road from five lanes down to three, there's going to be a reduction in speed, and motorists are going to have to expect that it will take them a few more minutes as they commute that segment of road," said Andy Sikkema, Ishpeming transportation center manager.

The project will cost an estimated $6.2 million and will include the construction of a multi-use pathway along Lake Superior.
