CALUMET -- A 38-year-old Calumet man accused of fleeing the scene of a fatal crash was in Keweenaw County Circuit Court on Thursday.

Last November, police say David Paul Simons lost control of his vehicle while making a sharp turn, which lead to the death of his 53-year-old passenger, Jeffrey Brusso of Ahmeek.  Simons is charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and operating a vehicle without a license causing death.

He's also charged with failing to stop at the scene of a fatal crash.

Simons will be back in court in May for a trial.
