IRON MOUNTAIN -- It's not often that you get to ski in a t-shirt, however, that's exactly what's happening at area ski hills recently.
The warm temperatures are creating what officials are describing as perfect spring ski conditions. Although they will probably close ski areas sooner than most avid skiers would have liked, the next week or so will be the time to get out there for the last runs of the year.
At Pine Mountain, they still have a good base of snow.
“We're not touching it,” said Pine Mountain GM Scott Grubb. “We've got a lot of snow to begin with. We did a good job of making the snow this year when we got the chance to do that. We've got a really large base out there, and it's not melting as fast as it could be.”
Pine Mountain plans to stay open until Sunday, March 25.
