NOME, AK -- The 2012 Iditarod is over and has been won by a man with ties to the Upper Peninsula.

Twenty-five-year-old Dallas Seavey and his team of dogs ran to the finish line in Nome at about 7:30 p.m. Alaska time Tuesday night.  Seavey becomes the youngest person to ever win the 1,000 mile race.

Seavey also wrestled for the USOEC Greco Roman team based at Northern Michigan University, where he was the 2003 Cadet Greco Champion.

For the first place win in the Iditarod, Seavey will bank $50,400 and the keys to a new truck.

Meanwhile, McMillan musher Ed Stielstra is running in 23rd place as of Wednesday morning.
