MARQUETTE -- Little kids are doing their part to make a big difference in the lives of their peers.

Pre-kindergarteners at Father Marquette Elementary School spent part of their morning creating a care package to help bring smiles to the kids staying at the Children's Hospital of Michigan in Detroit.

The package included stickers, books, and crayons among other things.

Along with the package, the kids drew pictures of places and things that make them happy.  The assignment, lead by their teacher Jessica Aho, is part of their annual service project.

"We hope that it puts a smile on their face," said Aho.   "We know that it's no fun being sick or having to stay home with a cold or a flu, so we kind of talked about how some kids have to stay in a hospital all the time and they might not get to do all of the fun things that we get to do here at school."

Parents of the kids donated some of the care package supplies, with Aho contributing the rest.
