HOUGHTON -- The unseasonably warm temperatures early on Wednesday brought parents and their kids to the Portage Lake District Library for story time.
The library has offered story time for over 30 years, and its goal is to instill the love of literature as well as art in every child that participates in each event. Before story time began, kids got a chance to read a few books of their own while others grabbed crayons and colored.
This week's theme was dinosaurs, and kids learned about the different shapes of dinosaurs, what they ate, and how loud they roared.
"I like to bring her here just to get her used to the routine and dealing with other kids and interacting and learning how to sit and listen," said Casandra Mattila. "She really enjoys stories, and so the interacting with other kids is also good for her."
Story time is offered twice a week, every Wednesday and Thursday.
