CALUMET -- The 32nd Annual Great Bear Chase Ski Marathon is set to begin this Saturday at Swedetown Trails in Calumet.
Set up has already begun, and organizers grabbed signs and started placing them throughout the trails. They also put up a blue mesh fence to help guide the skiers in the right direction.
Organizers say there will be some new additions to the race including a 50 km Classic.
“It’s a great race if you cross country ski, either skate or classic. There’s a race for everyone and every fitness level, and then if you’re not a racer, it’s also a good spectator event. We have tons of people that are lining the stadium area where the start-finish is,” said Race Director Angela Luskin.
If you are interested in participating in the race, the last day to register is Friday, March 9 at the Calumet High School gym from 4 to 9 p.m.
