Authorities tight-lipped about investigation
MUNISING TWP. -- A armed foot pursuit in Alger County ended with the arrest of multiple suspects Tuesday afternoon.
The Michigan State Police and Alger County Sheriff's Office say they have the scene contained, and they believe the area is safe for residents.
It's a case authorities are very tight-lipped about Tuesday evening, only confirming few details. That leaves big questions about why this pursuit happened, and who was involved.
They do say at 11:28 a.m., troopers from the State Police in Munising were sent to a breaking-and-entering complaint in Munising Township. An armed foot pursuit did take place in the backwoods of the township around the area of 4212 East Powell Lake Road.
They have confirmed more than one suspect was taken into custody, and the investigation is ongoing at this time.
A middle-aged Caucasian male was identified as the victim on scene; he appeared uninjured Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities could not tell us if any injuries had occurred in the incident.
We spoke with multiple neighbors Tuesday afternoon. Some said they were stopped on the road by authorities and told to call 911 if they saw a man wearing black and camouflage. Other neighbors say they did not know the resident of the home in question, but do believe police have been called to that location for problems in past.
Authorities are not releasing further details or names pending arraignment.
The Michigan State Police were assisted on the scene by 8th District HST, Alger County Sheriff's Department, Munising City PD, DNR Conservation Officers, and the MSP Crime Lab.
