NMU offers over 40 one and two year programs
MARQUETTE -- Rick Santorum recently made headlines when he called President Obama a "snob" for wanting all children to go to college.
While four year programs can put you on a path for a successful future, there are other ways to get an education.
NMU is one of the three colleges in Michigan that offer more than one and two year programs in 40 subject areas. This allows students to get degrees in fields like cosmetology and aviation maintenance...two of the university's most popular two year majors.
"One of the misconceptions about our one and two year degrees is that they're easy. That is not true. They are just as difficult as a four year degree. In the time that a person is here, they need to work hard and apply themselves if they want to take that two year degree and be successful," said NMU Department Head for Technology and Occupational Sciences, Daryl Kobie.
