Back country skiing, snowshoeing and even outdoor cooking and dogsledding were among the activities planned at the Bay Cliff Health Camp in Big Bay this weekend

ISHPEMING -- If you live in the U.P., one thing to master would be the outdoors.

And thanks to the DNR's annual 'Becoming an Outdoor Woman' event, around 60 women had the chance to do just that. Back country skiing, snowshoeing and even outdoor cooking and dogsledding were among the activities planned at the Bay Cliff Health Camp in Big Bay this weekend.

"A lot of times women don't get that opportunity. They're home raising their kids or working; they don't have time to just get out and learn some of these outdoor activities, so this weekend is a way for them to just get out of their comfort zone and try a new sport and just have a lot of fun with all the ladies," said U.P. BOW Coordinator Sharon Pitz.

For $180, women enjoyed a two-night stay at the camp, food, and a choice of three outdoor classes.
