MARINETTE -- Congressmen Dan Benishek and Reid Ribble helped put together a job fair in Marinette today. There was a big turnout with lots of people looking for employment.
Susan Glisch is looking to rejoin the workforce. And for her, this job fair was a big help.
“I have received some leads, and employers definitely encouraged me,” says Glisch.
According to Congressman Benishek, job fairs like this one are very important.
“There's a lot of people who are out of work that are here this morning,” says Benishek.
Lots of potential employees got to explore new opportunities today. And, of course, every employer is looking for that next big hire.
There were many types of jobs represented at the fair. There are employers looking for everything from manual labor to office work.
“I am looking for office work,” Glisch said, “particularly the management, executive assistant type of position.”
Many people were looking for office type jobs; not too many people were specifically looking for a manual labor position. However, there are definitely some of those available. Grede Foundries and Boss Snowplow were represented at the fair, and they need people with skill trades, like welding.
In addition to a job, Susan wants a job with stability that allows her some time with her family.
“The typical Monday through Friday, 40 hour a week deal with the weekends off,” Glisch says.
Dan Benishek and Reid Ribble have done these job fairs before, and because of their success will continue to try and generate jobs for the community.
