BARAGA COUNTY -- Temperatures aren't the only number rising lately. Gas prices went up two cents so far this week.
This brings the current state average to $3.45 a gallon. That's nearly 30 cents more than this time last year.
In Baraga County the price of gas is $3.42 a gallon on average, but The Pines has gas almost 20 cents cheaper. Motorists say in this economy, it's not unusual to go out of the way to find a bargain.
"We all travel a lot and some of it is necessary. We always kind of plan a trip that we can stop here and fill up; having a lower price is very appealing," said motorist Herb Grenke.
Marquette comes in the highest in the state at $3.49 a gallon. Ann Arbor has the lowest price at $3.45.
