Dozens showed up at the Marquette Commons Saturday to cheer on the Kiddie Mutt Races
MARQUETTE -- An organization put on their own version of the UP 200 with some local tail waggers.
Dozens showed up at the Marquette Commons Saturday to cheer on the Kiddie Mutt Races. Hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Marquette, the event is a chance to show kids what it's like to be a musher. The trail was all of 100 feet straight ahead.
No speed demons at this race. Seemed like the sled dogs all went at their own pace.
"We have dogs that do everything from take off like rockets, to smell everything along the way, to trying to figure out why something is pulling on their neck and stopping, so it's a riot to watch. it's a lot of fun, and the kids have a great time, and it's a wonderful thing for the community, and we have a lot of fun doing it," said Kiwanis Club volunteer Jake Guter.
The annual event was free to the public.
