IRON MOUNTAIN -- Preparing for retirement can sometimes be a confusing experience, but a presentation at the Dickinson County Library aimed to simplify the process. Financial advisor Russell Game shared some of his views on ways to prepare for life after work.
His biggest message? Start preparing as soon as possible. Ideally you'd start saving sometime in your twenties and let that money compound and grow until retirement. This should leave you in a good position. Look at different forms of retirement accounts and decide which is best for you.
He advocated the Internet as a great place to research.
“The Internet is a great place to learn about so many things, and it's a double-edged sword because there's so much information out there,” said Game. “Some of it's good, some of it's not so good.”
Game says young people may want to consider opening a Roth IRA, a non-taxed retirement account
