It's a fundraiser by the Bark River Lions Club
ESCANABA -- On Wednesday, the Icebreaker Truck was put on the ice of Little Bay de Noc in Escanaba. It's a fundraiser for the Bark River Lions Club, and proceeds will help U.P. charities.
The former sportsman's race truck is sitting on about ten inches of ice.
Around 5,000 tickets were printed. They cost two dollars to buy, and you can place a bet on the month, day, hour and minute the truck will fall through the ice.
The winning guess will get you 50 percent of the total purse, a set of Firestone Tires from Mr. Tire, and two passes to the Off-Road Races.
“There's not a lot to do this time of year,” explains fundraiser Chairperson, Toby Kuivinen. “People are itching for spring. People are walking around. So it's just something to put out on the ice. It’s a fun way to get through the last part of winter.”
Last year’s Icebreaker Truck sank April 10.
You can monitor the truck’s progress 24/7 on a live webcam.
