MARQUETTE -- The Marquette Area Public School board voted to extend term lengths.
Facing the departure of a large number of board members when their current terms are up due to a new Michigan law, board members voted to extend the length of terms in the future to six years.
The board also got a better idea of the factors that determine the upcoming budget with a presentation that illustrated the rising cost of insurance and the decline in enrollment.
Facing these budget issues, the board also tabled the purchase of new busses for the coming year until they had a clear picture of the budget.
