SHINGLETON -- Riders took a trip down memory lane with antique snowmobiles. The Long Riders Sportsman's Club held its 20th annual Relic Ride on Saturday. It was at the Jack Pine Lodge near Shingleton.

Many snowmobilers showcased old snowmobiles. A trophy was awarded to the oldest snowmobile present--a 1963 Ski-Doo.

Prizes were raffled off, including a mystery snowmobile to one lucky winner. The highlight of the event is a 45-mile snowmobile ride for which more than 300 men and women registered. The oldest rider was 87 years old. The Relic Ride even attracted several state lawmakers, including State Senator Tom Casperson.

The long convoy took off at 11 a.m.

"It's kind of a test of machine and endurance, and especially on a day like today when it's going to be real cold out, it's going to be tough on the riders and the machines," said Dan Morgan and Brad Burnham, members of the club.

The Long Riders donate proceeds to a different Schoolcraft County organization every year. This year the club will donate half the proceeds to the VFW Post in Manistique.
