ISHPEMING -- It's tax season again, and the Ishpeming Senior Center (320 S. Pine St.) is offering free tax assistance for any seniors who need it.

The center has been offering tax assistance for over 40 years by helping seniors file their state and federal taxes.

Anyone who is interested in receiving help can go to the center on Tuesday or Wednesday mornings to work with a volunteer representative in confidentiality.

Tax assistor Dorothy Kuhn feels the older population is more intimidated by tax returns than the younger generation.

"They just want to make sure they are done right, that they don't fall into a trap or get penalized or have to pay extra interest or anything like that," said Kuhn.

The center is also working toward setting up on site kiosks for tax e-filing help.  Call 485-5527 for further information.
