ESCANABA -- There's around 150,000 pounds of food at St. Vincent de Paul's food pantry in Escanaba, and it's expected to last until June or July.

The food pantry supervisor said this is the best year he's had for food donations in the nine years he has been at the center.

In November and December, 15 tons of food were collected through the TV6 Canathon efforts.  Up to 35 people a day come in to get food at the pantry, but the average is about 18 people who stop in to get food.

"Delta County has been great to use and has really supported us here.  This last year has probably been the most food I've ever received between November and December," said Food Pantry Supervisor Dwaine Menard.

The next big can drive is the Postal Service Food Drive in May.
