WEST BRANCH -- The 9th annual U.P. Predator Challenge attracted 76 hunters for the kill. The West Branch Sportsmen Club hosts the event each year.

The four-day competition awarded $800 to the first place winner, $400 to second, and third and fourth also placed. More than 20 predators, including red fox and coyotes, were weighed.

"We've had quite a few animals come in and you can hunt coyotes, you can hunt fox, you can hunt bobcat, and the main reason is to try and knock down the amount of predators that are killing the game birds," said Mike Crawford, vice president of West Branch Sportsmen Club.
