WEST BRANCH TOWNSHIP -- A 23-year-old man is in jail for allegedly sexually assaulting a young girl.

Dontrell Davon Brown of Gwinn was arrested on five counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct.

Troopers from the Negaunee Michigan State Police were called out to a home in West Branch Township on Monday.

The mother of the girl reported that she found Brown sexually molesting her 11-year-old daughter on January 24. Brown ran from the home before the police arrived.

A five count felony warrant for Brown's arrest was issued, and he was found and taken into custody on Wednesday.

Brown is being held in the Marquette County Jail on a $500,000 cash bond.  His preliminary hearing is set for February 9 at 4 p.m.

First degree criminal sexual conduct is punishable by any term of years in prison, up to life.
