IRONWOOD -- A 17-year-old Ironwood boy is in custody for several crimes, including arson.
At 5:55 Tuesday night, Ironwood Public Safety was called out to 700 North Lake Street for a structure fire. After investigating, it was determined that the fire was deliberately set.
As officers developed their case, they found that the same suspect was believed responsible for malicious destruction of property at two local businesses.
The 17-year-old suspect was arrested when located at a residence at about 10:45 p.m. and charged with two felonies arson of a dwelling and breaking and entering of a building. He was also charged with malicious destruction of personal property.
The teen remains lodged in the Gogebic County Jail on a $200,000 bond.
The Ironwood Public Safety Department cleared the scene at 10 p.m. They were assisted by Hurley Police Department, Gogebic County Sheriff's Department, Michigan State Police from the Wakefield Post, Beacon Ambulance, Ironwood Department of Public Works and Ramme's Collision Center.
