Five teams participated in a tournament on the field in just 20 degree weather
DELTA CO. -- A few dozen in Delta County exchanged their softball cleats for snowboots Saturday afternoon.
What was supposed to be a snowshoe softball fundraiser became snowboot softball for the Delta County Animal Shelter due to a lack of snow. Five teams participated in a tournament on the field in just 20 degree weather. It was all to raise money for the shelter to fund spay and neuter procedures.
They said it's extremely important the public shows their support through events like this because their funding comes solely from fundraising.
"Without an animal shelter, there would be so many animals that didn't have homes, out running the streets, supporting them is very important, otherwise, there'd be so many stray animals," said Trish Meyer from the shelter.
The shelter plans to hold the event again next year.
