MARQUETTE -- Information was released on Monday stating that Jim Cihak will be stepping down from the Marquette County Board, leaving office for personal family reasons.
The 61-year-old board member is relocating to Ottawa County in the Lower Peninsula. He says he'll leave before the end of February after more than 11 years on the board.
Once he resigns, the county board will have 30 days to appoint a successor. If nobody is chosen, there will be a countywide special election to fill the seat.
Cihak represents the City of Marquette's east and north sides. He'll make the announcement official at Tuesday night's board meeting.
Cihak's term expires at the end of the year.
