MARQUETTE -- The Upper Peninsula Children's Museum was overrun with princesses and pirates on Thursday evening.

As part of the second Thursday creativity series, the children's museum hosted the event to gave local children a reason to break out the Halloween costumes again.

Kids had a chance to listen to live music and enjoy a variety of hands-on activities.

"It's meant to be non-competitive time to be with your parents and your family and other kids, and we just have fun together," said children's museum Director Nheena Weyer Ittner. "Of course Princesses and Pirates is a huge, fun event."

As a special treat for the kids, Nheena invited a local pageant queen to the event.

The second Thursday of every month continues the creativity series.  For more information on the museum's events, check out the calendar on www.upcmkids.org.
