BARAGA COUNTY -- A 41-year-old Baraga, Michigan woman has been sentenced to 46 months in federal prison for biting off the tip of a man's nose, leaving him permanently disfigured.

Donalyn Lynette Taisto plead guilty to the charge of assault resulting in serious bodily injury, according to the Department of Justice.  She was originally charged on two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, but those charges were dismissed at sentencing.

The case against Taisto stems from an incident on April 21, 2011 on the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community reservation in Baraga County, Michigan.  A fight broke out between her and the victim, resulting in Taisto biting off the tip of the man's nose, striking him with a lamp, and cutting him with a knife.

Taisto will also serve three years of supervised release following her prison sentence.
