Dozens of people showed up to test out gear and equipment at the Forestville Noquemanon Trail Head

MARQUETTE -- Down Wind Sports of Marquette was the host of a free outdoor sports demo on Saturday. Dozens of people showed up to test out gear and equipment at the Forestville Noquemanon Trail Head. The store showcased the latest models of snowshoes, snow bikes and various types of skis on the market. Those who came had a chance to take the equipment out on the trail and try it out for free.

Those who wished to purchase any of the items could then head down to the store to get the deals.

"There are a lot of sports that people may not have had the chance to experience, and that was the idea with today's event. We're trying to expose people to winter sports that they might not have ever even tried like snow bikes; a lot of people haven't had the chance to get on one even though they're very popular," said Jeff Stasser, one of the owners at Down Wind Sports in Marquette.

The store partnered with Crescent Moon and other providers to make the event possible.
