MARQUETTE -- Skiers and snowboarders braved the winter weather for a chance to hit the slopes at Marquette Mountain Monday.

The snowy conditions that so many winter sports enthusiasts look forward to arrived this week, and with the holiday break, skiers were out in full force.

Management at Marquette Mountain say they've noticed the increase, and this type of weather helps them stay busy.

"Lots of skiers like the fresh powder, and it's adding to our base and allowing us to add more runs. We are currently at 13 runs with up to, probably, a 30-inch base," said Marquette Mountain Guest Relations Manager, Jesie Melchori.  "All of our chairlifts are open, and the more that Mother Nature allows the temperature to stay right, the better off we'll be and the more runs we can add."

Melchiori says they've enjoyed seeing more families on the mountain during this holiday season.  She also says they have ways to make skiing more affordable, including this Sunday's carload day.

For $50, everyone in the vehicle gets an all day lift ticket.
