GLADSTONE -- OSF St. Francis and the Island Resort and Casino are cosponsoring the Liferides program.

Now there's a taxi service that will serve Gladstone, Rapid River, and the surrounding areas.

Dan Bjorkquist is the owner of Celebrations Charters Group and City Cab of Gladstone. City Cab will give free taxi rides to help keep drunk drivers off the roads, and his Party Bus will do individualized pickups and drop offs.

The hours of the free rides are from 11 p.m., December 31, through 5 a.m. on January 1.

"Every year we haul more and more people, and every year people do get a little bit smarter," said Bjorkquist.  "We've had no fatalities in 27 years, which is something we're real proud of."

JN Taxi and Escanaba Taxi will also be offering free rides throughout Delta County.
