77-year-old man dies after being hit by a vehicle

IRONWOOD -- A 77-year-old man, identified as Francis "Ronnie" Kilponen, is dead after being hit by a vehicle on December 20 on Suffolk St. in Ironwood.

The man passed away at 12:40 a.m. on Wednesday morning after being taken to Aspirus Grandview Hospital, then airlifted to St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, Wisconsin.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities.

 


Sgt. Carpenedo, IPSD Accident Reconstructionist, along with the Michigan State Police Accident Reconstructionist, are assisting in the investigation.

Ironwood Public Safety is looking for the driver of a red Jeep who may have witnessed the incident.  If you have any information, please contact the investigating officer, Adam Clemens, at (906) 932-1234.
