MUNISING -- The Canadian man accused of trying to kidnap a 12-year-old Munising girl wants his alleged confession thrown out of court.
Mohamed El Fectali was arrested last month for allegedly trying to entice the girl into his car. The two police officers who initially questioned El Fectali took the stand on Monday.
They say El Fectali admitted he tried to lure the girl into his car for sexual purposes. The prosecutor wants to use the taped interview as a confession, but the defense says El Fectali was just asking the girl for directions and offered her a ride home.
Judge William Carmody watched a video of the police interview to determine if El Fectali's statements were made voluntarily. He did not make his decision on Monday.
El Fectali remains in jail charged with attempted kidnapping and enticing a child for immoral purposes.
