MARQUETTE -- The countdown until the Noquemanon ski race is on. The race is scheduled for Jan. 28, but the planning has already begun.

There will be new additions to the race this year, including widening the starting point of the 25K, and the introduction of Sunday events. The new Sunday activities will include a snow bike race and skijoring.

"We have the 25K for more of your citizens' racer, but it does require some training to get out there and ski. A couple of years ago we started our 12K and that is a perfect race for people to start," Nicole Dewald, race coordinator, said.

The entire event includes a 50K, 20K, 12K, a 10K snowshoe, and the Sunday events.
